Some of you may have inquired about our summer season.   After careful consideration I have decided to not do a summer season this year.  However, Port City Market will still participate in the Gallery Nights this summer.  We will re-open for the winter season in November on Saturday mornings.  One of the factors in my decision is that I will be out of town most of the summer.  I will be touring small farms across the country en route to Santa Cruz, CA where I will be working with Pensacola native, Brent Greene, installing edible and native urban landscaping.  On this trip I will provide information on the slow food movement in each destination I visit.  I will post updates on our Facebook page.  I would love to get your feedback over the summer too!

Just a quick reminder, please contact your senator via e-mail to get legislation passed in Florida that would allow farmers to sell directly to consumers without overburdensome licensing requirements. “We are very close to having all the info we believe you will need to make the final decision on if this CSA is for you.  We have several farmers and feel like we can provide you with a diverse, tasty box of produce for about 28 weeks of the year starting in mid April.  If you are still interested, could you please reply and provide your zip code.  We are lastly, locating drop off points and would like to know where most of you live to ensure we are providing spots that are convenient to you.  Also know we have decided to only provide 50 boxes this first year and have more than 50 of you on this list.  We will have to go on a first come, first pay basis.  We will have those final numbers as soon as we determine how many drop off points work best to meet your needs (how far does the truck have to drive).”  Please contact Cindy Anderson at canderson@teamsantarosa.com if you’re interested or for more information!!

Warmer weather is upon us at last. With highs in the mid-60s the day begs you to be outside with us at the Port City Market. Our featured guest this week is Chef Josh House, who caters with his own company, Culinary Comforts and is a culinary instructor for Distinctive Kitchens. Josh will be grilling everything-from-the-garden kabobs topped with your choice of 4 different sauces: Argentine chimichurri, basil-tarragon aioli, soy-ginger sauce with sesame, or a Thai sweet chili glaze. Just a couple quick notes, Rich from Little Italy extends his apologies for not being there last weekend as he was short handed at the restaurant. However, Little Italy will be back this weekend with his breads, olive oils, and other goodies.

Cindy Anderson with Team Santa Rosa sent me an update on the CSA. Port City Market will remain the main drop off site with a couple others in Milton and Cantonment. Cindy needs 15 more participants for the buyers club to get this off the ground. The tentative price, though not yet set in stone is about $25.
